Summer Means Fairs and Festivals

Summer has officially begun and with it comes hot weather, vacations, and time for family to do fun things. We wanted to help you a bit and give you a very comprehensive list of Ohio Valley fairs and festivals. They are listed in the order of when they begin. Also, don't forget to check out other events going on around you looking at our Events Calendar.

State Fairs

The "Big Fairs" are the state fairs. There is so much to see and enjoy. And no matter how hard you try, it seems like you never see everything. The Ohio State Fair is first- July 28th through August 8th. Then the West Virginia State Fair follows on its heels- August 13th through the 21st. Pennsylvania held its state fair earlier in the year.

County Fairs

Here is a list of the County Fairs in the Ohio Valley area. Let us know if we missed one.

• Harrison County Fair (Cadiz, OH)- July 6th through the 10th.
• Carroll County Fair (Carrolton, OH)- July 20th through the 25th.
• Marshall County Fair (Moundsville, WV)- July 25th through the 31st. NOTE: Website not updated for the 2010 fair at the time this article is being written.
• Columbiana County Fair (Lisbon, OH)- August 2nd through the 8th.
• Tyler County Fair (Middlebourne, WV)- August 2nd through the 7th.
• Wetzel County Fair also known as Town and Country Days Fair (New Martinsville, WV)- August 9th through the 14th.
• Washington County Fair (Washington, PA)- August 14th through the 21st.
• Jefferson County Fair (Smithfield, OH)- August 17th through the 22nd.
• Monroe County Fair (Woodsfield, OH)- August 23rd through the 28th. NOTE: Website not updated for the 2010 fair at the time this article is being written.
• Noble County Fair (Caldwell, OH)- August 30th through September 4th.
• Belmont County Fair (St. Clairsville, OH)- September 7th through the 12th. NOTE: Website not updated for the 2010 fair at the time this article is being written.
• Brooke County Fair (Wellsburg, WV)- September 10th through the 12th.
• Guernsey County Fair (Old Washington, OH)- September 13th through the 19th.
• Tuscarawas County Fair (Dover, OH)- September 20th through the 26th.
• Ohio County Fair (Wheeling, WV)- October 1st through the 3rd.

We could not find anything for Allegheny, Beaver, or Greene counties in PA and no date had been set as of the time of this article for Hancock County in WV.

• Scio Fall Festival (Harrison County- Scio, OH)- August 18th through the 21st.
• Hookstown Fair (Beaver County- Hookstown, PA)- August 24th through the 28th.
• Big Knob Grange Fair (Beaver County- Rochester, PA)- August 31st through September 4th.
• West Alexander Fair (Washington County- West Alexander, PA)- September 6th through the 11th.
• Stumptown Steam Threshers Reunion (Harrison County- New Athens, OH)- September 11th and 12th.
• Wheeling Heritage Port Sternwheel Festival (Ohio County- Wheeling, WV)- September 16th through the 18th.
• Cadiz VFD Fall Festival (Harrison County- Cadiz, OH)- September 18th.
• Ohio Swiss Festival (Sugarcreek, OH)- September 29th through October 2nd.
• Middle Island Harvest Festival (Tyler County- Middlebourne, WV)- October 1st through the 3rd.
• Sally Buffalo Park's Oktoberfest (Harrison County- Cadiz, OH)- October 2-3.

No dates have been listed yet for the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival (Belmont County, Barnesville OH) or the Wellsburg Applefest (Wellsburg, WV).
